Two German backpackers got stranded in Australia when they were
fortunate enough to meet a police officer, he lent them the money they
needed even though there was every chance he wasn't going to get it
back. They did return the money with a thank you note and a few extra
dollars. The backpackers had no fuel and were facing a 14-hour drive to
their intended destinations where they had jobs waiting for them. See
